Made it back to the cellar hole from last week that I dug 5 coppers and some other goodies.

Dug 2 more coppers, one is an 1827 Matron Head Large cent and the most modern coin popped at this site being a 1858 Flying Eagle. Second FE at this site.

Another CW Eagle button. This time a General Service type.

The cellar hole is on the other side of this huge tree.

Definitely dug the iffy signals this weekend, no longer cherry picking. Lots of shotgun shell head stamps and fire burned square nails, plus a bunch of pewter and a couple old brass spoon frags.

Here is the rest of the stuff.

The brass piece with the oval center was a pin, maybe the kind that held a picture? I believe the corroded piece to the left is a powder flask valve.

Good luck out there!

The pin shaped screw piece to the left of the oval bit is part of a furniture drop drawer pull.

Nice hunt! It's a well producing site, and one that could be worked a tad more.

Another good hunt at your now "not so virgin" cellar hole. These places are only virgin once, so your post title is technically incorrect :dontknow:
I think she's holding out on the silver though, because she wants you to come back :laughing7:
I agree on the powder flask top.

Thx Steve! Definitely no longer a virgin site. Yeah, the second Matron was an 8? deep squeaker, 27/28. Perfect silver dime tone. Thought I had finally found her treasure.

Nice finds Thad.

Tough to find any untouched cellar holes anymore.

Surprised no silver has popped out yet with that many coppers.

There still may be one in there.

I haven't been out since we hit the park 10 days ago.

Working on this camp like crazy and my digging hand is hurt right now.

Hope to get out this week though if it doesn't get to hot.

Thx Jer! Some of my oldest sites have only produced old coppers and no silvers, but there is still a chance at this site for shiney. Good luck swinging this week.

great saves, awesome

More goodies from that site. It appears you have the remains of a plated spoon that has makers marks ?? Unsquashed thimbles are always a nice find. Agree on the flask valve. Yeah there could be some silver waiting for you, but like you said, I have some sites that gave up a ton of coppers but not a single shiny thing.

Very nice work sir...congrats on a fantastic hunt !!

Amazing site, that's a GOOD DAY!
