XP Deus II v0.6 with 11" Coil
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
The 2 inches of snow on the ground was not the problem, it was the 6 inches of solid frozen Clay! Hurt my feet jumping on the spade & was hard to get some of the finds out. We did manage 5 hours in the bitter freezing conditions but really enjoyed being out & it was sunny instead of sleet etc...

We always planned to return here when the rough ploughed field was graded, it had been rolled once but is still was less than perfect. So we put on the large Coils & set to work finding what we had missed late last year.

The more I use the 11'' XP coil, the more I'm impressed, super sensitive & I dug the Roman Silver at 8 inches (bear in mind the uneven conditions & snow), plus the largest Roman Coin at over 10 inches (I was shocked it wasn't a large piece of lead)

The Coils definitely made the day:

24 Roman Bronze Coins
Excellent Medieval Heraldic Stud (went on the Horses leather) ;D
Very cool Roman Bronze Bead (design I have not yet seen)
Debased Roman Silver - Julia Domna :)

Saxon Sceat circa 7th Century (might be a rare Series V, type 7?). Very surprised by this, I only got my 1st & 2nd Sceat last year, so to get this so early in the year, I can't ask for a much better start in difficult times!

UPDATED:
Only 11 of this type of Sceat are recorded! :icon_thumright:

The enameling on the Medieval piece is outstanding. Wonderful that you found it intact.

Will eel pie be on the celebratory menu tonight?

Pizza & a bottle of wine :icon_thumright:

Excellent as per usual, Crusader.

And, is it me or do you have my tag there? I lost it in England a few years ago.

It would be the one in the upper left hand corner of the second picture that says "Fine Shag"

:laughing7:

I was going to trash it, but I thought someone on here might get a laugh

Re: Return to the Roman Site....

Good shag :laughing7:
The enameling on the piece is awesome. Great hunt once again :icon_thumright:
Hardcore!

Re: Return to the Roman Site....

The silver is great but I'm guessing it was the stud that made your day. I'd be good with either right about now.

That's more like it :icon_thumleft:

I love the Heraldic Stud, it's really nice!!

What a good start to the year :hello2:

Cheers, its all helped by our GPS maps of the site, which put us bang into the find zone. We only have half of this hotspot left to complete the area, so it will not be long until we are stratching our heads again :tongue3:

The Sceat made my year, might be less than 20 recorded. The stud I have about 3 other examples but with differing designs.
