Although I've called this the Roman Site, we finished that area of the field on Day 4, but I'm keeping the title so you know I'm on the same field. We spent 43/4 hours in relative warm, awaiting the forecast storms which still haven't arrived.
After last week with Shaun7 we guessed that today would be a tough day as we started to grid out of the better area. We were not wrong but at least had a few nice finds:

Imitation Roman Coin 1 piece Button
Rose Farthing
Jetton
17th C Token
4D Token
Grotty Hammered
Medieval Purse Bar piece
Medieval Spur Rowel (rare complete)
18th C Clog Clasp
17th C Lead Powder Flask Lid (good shape, one of my best)
Charles I XX Shilling Coin Weight:icon_thumright:

Probably much of the same but its an added bonus to have anywhere to hunt during the months before harvest:icon_thumright:

I love seeing this stuff from places I'll prob never visit. Very cool...the star with a hole in the middle is really neat

Good finds Cru, my fave's are the rowel and the coin weight:icon_thumleft:, can't wait to see day 7:laughing7:

Wide spread of finds again Cru! The spur rowel is very nice. And more buckles than normal. A good day!

Thats the Medieval Spur Rowel, the bit that hurt the horse when you kicked it.

No I didn't, & I thought someone from the States might educate me on that one, so Cheers! (earlier than I would have guessed)

I still have the title for the worst hammered from that field:icon_thumleft:

Yes, you do. Hopefully you can make it out again before we run out of land, although Dad just scouted a small field we can do today.

Nice array of Finds!
I enjoy trying to match the pieces to your descriptions,

the spur rowel is the star shaped piece, (that was an easy one..) Very Nice.
The King Charles (what do I have against Cromwell...) coin weight would be pix 5 & 8, this would be used to check the weight of a stack of 20 Shillings?
thanks for showing and helping us with identification of items we may someday find.

I'd be really happy with a 'Grotty Hammered' :laughing7:
Congrats and HH to you.

Congrats and HH to you.

The 20 Shillings denoted the gold 'Unite' (worth 20 Shillings =140.5gr =9.10g)

Thank you, first I've heard of that coin.

certainly some interesting history behind the Charles I varieties, On some of his coins the words "Christo Auspice Regno" appear - "I rule with Christ's approval", surely didn't help his standing with Parlaiment.

a good selection of finds and a good days digging well done
