Last time I was on this field was Sep last year. This is now my 9th visit to the field & with todays 3 hour gridding I have completed about 50% of the total field.
Conditions were choppy with heavy clay lumps trying to trip you up, that's one great reason to have a full length spade as a third leg. 3 hours solo hunt felt enough with a thunder storm circling me.

2 Scrappies
19th C Dragoon Guards Button
Royal Engineers Lapel Badge
17th C Sword Belt Fitting
1st C AD Roman Ring (Broken)
Lead Cloth Seal with incised numbers
Late 19th C Horse blinker (Barrel shaped)
Best find, I think - 17th C Horse Leather Mount - never seen this type & its complete!

Wonderful finds again Cru.
Sounds like you work hard for them.
When I was 7 or 8 dad used to get me to turn over the garden by telling me I could very well find a Roman coin. Never did. Lol

Very nice harness (?) mount. Looks like it has clasps on the back. Maybe with a decorated leather band hanging down?

Great finds, Crusader! Thanks for sharing, as I'm unlikely to get to England to search. Lots of interesting stuff.

The finds you make are very different from what we make here in the New World. If I were ever to dig up a Viking coin or such, I could never post it. The Archeological World would want the location and would probably put the area off limits.
Once again, , congratulations on your hunt.

I wouldn't be without my full length spade either - use it like a walking stick , like an old friend ! Hutch.

Good idea. I can't really guess what was meant to hang off it??

It's all about context.(I record Viking coins because they are rare, & not because I have to by Law, unless I find 2 together) If you got a find like that in the US of course the Archies should know about it. The problem with your statement is, I've heard it many times to justify not doing the right thing & in most cases its untrue.
However, I know that in the US they do have a different attitude & if they have created the tension that you speak of then they can only blame themselves for loss of valuable information.

Very much an old friend, as it was my Grandad's old friend as well. In his day they were more like the Roman's, in that they built things to last & somewhat over engineered. Today it's not a good business model, so build them to break.

Nice round of finds Cru. I like the bell;)

Here's a question I was thinking about with my own finds yesterday: is there a way to properly date Crotal bells?

i want more Celtic gold!!!! get busy will ya?!

Had 5 bronze & 4 silver Celtic this year already (high numbers), all I want is 1 gold.

The first 50 percent of the field has been very good to you in giving up some good treasures...hope the next half will be even better with possible gold. Good luck to you!

and eventually you WILL get the gold too!
