I finally got an opportunity to return to the late 18th century site I discovered over Thanksgiving. I was hoping to at least duplicate my initial search results where came up with six coppers.
I spent 5 hours Sunday probing the boundaries of the site and reworking ground I had previously searched. The results were less that stellar. Looks like this was just small cabin site that didn't see a lot of activity. I found my first couple buttons with backmarks, which bumps the back end of occupation period into the early 1800s.

Here is my take from Sunday.

I did manage to find a nice Dandy that is a match for one I found last time, and this one is not bent!

Here is the latest Dandy in the dirt.

Still you were able to put the site to the test.
Well done on the match on the buttons.

Awesome dandy button, saving that piece of history would make my day. Congrats!

Button! Button! Who's got the button! Nice saves! Thanks for sharing and congratulations!

Thanks Pepper. I will be putting it to the test again this spring when the corn stubble is plowed under!

Thanks Thad, that button definitely made the hunt but it didn't have much competition.

Nice hunt
Thanks Relic!

Beautiful button Steve!
Thanks SM!

I got the button now!

Nice!!!!! Congrats!!!!!
Thank you!

I think that's a great 2nd round at that spot. I suspect there's another coin or 2 tucked up against some trees. Hopefully the snow holds off so you can get out there again this year. Loving those matching dandies as well. Any dandy with a design I really appreciate.

The site is in a cornfield. In addition to the corn stubble working against me, my XP Deus headphones are in the shop, so I was working with the external speaker, which is not optimal. No doubt there is more to be found after the stubble is plowed under.

Nice finds, Steve. You'll need a snow shovel for the next hunt. Stay warm back there in Pa.

John I don't hunt in the snow unless I have a great spot to hunt. My hands get cold and the snow sticks to my coil. I've been doing this long enough to know those relics have been there 200 years, they will still be there in two months :laughing7:
We got about 10 inches where I'm at in Pittsburgh and more to the east. They probably got a lot more in Martinsburg.

Nice hunt being able to extract some more finds from that site.
I like the fact that you were able to find a matching button...probably off of the same coat maybe?

Nice finds, Congrats!!! "D"

They had about a foot over in Martinsburg where I live, and I wouldn't hunt in the snow either, too many years working in the cold as a telephone man.
