heres a little trick i read about for improving those reddish brown crusty nickels we all dig up. i wouldnt do this to a coin that holds great value but for the cheapos it really makes them look better.take a 1/4 cup of white vinager and mix it with a tsp of salt. put the nickel in the solution and keep an eye on it. some nickels will turn white almost instantly while others may need to soak a few minutes. keep an eye on it though because if it sits too long it makes them come out a powdered white color.every few minutes wipe the coin with a cloth or scrub with a toothbrush and repeat the process untill the coin looks the way you like it. ;)
