I was working with MetalHeadz on a couple of spots to hit in the old park woods. I came across my first red square on the old county map.

Every other dot has been yellow designating the home and white with “x” showing the barns. Louis said he thought red meant brick home vs wooden home. So I did a bit more research and found a pic showing the ruins in 1985 of the 1824 farm home, definitely brick. They must of had some money.

Unfortunately the ruins must have attracted to many liability issues and the homesite was filled and flattened, but I found one small section that was productive. (Imagine what’s buried down deep...)
First good signal.

Took a while with the Andres Pencils, but came out ok for an 1835 Matron Head.

Old toy fire truck, Slik-Toys. I think this is from the 1950’s, it is aluminum and was super deep mixed in with lots of iron.

Hello pdns. Nice research, nice hunt, nice finds...looks like your plan worked out well. Too bad the site is mostly filled in...even so with finds like those ya gotta go back.

Keep us posted and Good Luck out there. C9

It looks to me like someone was working the edge of your large cent (on the reverse) I'm seeing a scalloped pattern - but I may have an over active imagination.

very nice, lots of potential at that spot

Aewsome! Keep working that site, bound to payoff more goodies!

Nice finds Thad. Amazing that you found that old picture of the ruins. Did you guys go out Saturday, or wait till Sunday?

Congratulations on the nice finds! :occasion14:

Thx C9! I wish I had found this site before it was filled in. Documented 1825 homesite is pretty old for this area, no doubt there are goodies in there.

It is slightly domed as well. Maybe someone’s practice coin on a well worn Cent?

Thx Steve. I made it out Saturday morning before the rain came at 10am, Louis hit a different dot in the same park on Sunday where he found a Seated Dime last weekend.
