I found what appears to be a Large Cent, but it has no details on the back, but has a "3" on it. Can someone tell me what this means? Is it a Large Cent? I have it pictured next to a Large Cent I found earlier this year. The one on the left is the one in question. Any help is appreciated!

If you stare at them and let your eyes defocus then you can see the same head outline as the coin on the right. Same goes for the wreath on the back. The "3" seems to have been a later addition.

Yes a large cent, and misc. countermarks are a pretty common thing. Very unlikely you'll find out why that is there so just think of it as something unique for your collection.

looks like a wore out large cent counter marked with a 3 for some odd reason.-- like a tool check token or something like that.
