Welcome to the Forum!

I don't know for certain. It's certainly not this counterfeit:

Fake 1908 Piastre coin

Try weighing it again. This website says the weight should be 27.215g, not the 25g you mentioned. If it is 25g, then it is most likely counterfeit.

1 Piastre - French Indochina 1885-1895 - Numista

Also try sound testing it with a silver half dollar or quarter (pre 1964), whichever is closer in size. If the sounds sound the same when dropped onto a hard surface (should be a high-pitched ring), then it is silver and most likely genuine.

You may get more expert responses but this is the best I can give.

Merry Thanksgiving!

IMHO, due to the extremely porous and pitted surfaces, lack of depth in the details (images) and the fact that the rim ticking seems to run right into the denticles inside the rim, I believe it is a cheap and poorly made counterfeit that was made in a mold! Check the coin with a magnet as well as doing the ring test. If it sticks to a magnet or does not sound like a Silver Quarter or Half Dollar, then it is made of some other metal.
