Lake Champlain, Vt.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Here in Vt. there are some streams and rivers that contain some good amounts of gold, but are close to the road. Being slightly secretive, I have found it easier to fill 4-5 large buckets with good looking gravel, put it in the back of my truck and pan it when I get back home to the lake. I usually find a little color, have relaxing expedition into the mountains and attract little attention. Have any of you ever used this ploy?

Yes, all the time.

I hate playing 20 questions with hikers. Did you find gold? Is there gold here? What is that? Do you watch Gold Rush? My dad has a gold pan.

I'm nice so I always answer the questions. :)

I've thought about that to get some practice. Just have to find decent rivers near me and take a drive

Tell me about it! Seems like people are always outside doing stuff here. No matter how far out I go, it seems like there's always someone around. Only time I can catch a break is when the weather sucks. Even on club claims there are tons of people nearby.

It just a matter of how far out you willing to go I spent a week at this spot and never saw anyone.. other then a few kyakers who never even knew I was around.

Yup! I do that.

And if anyone asks, I say the man at Lowe's told me to do it. Need it for my african violets.

I could probably get away with burying a corpse so long as I wear a flower-print tee shirt and pink sun visor.

Fellas -- if you want to create an illusion -- maybe a hard hat and clip board... busy... no time to chat.

I really wish folks would just not bug us when we are out having some fun!

Even us oldsters do that. Screen it down to a #2 or #4 so you don't have to take the obvious "non-producing" rocks with you. TTC

Sometimes I say "I'm doing stream restoration. Resculpting the stream bed to reduce erosion and removing all the trash and heavy metals...which are 99% lead, we sure don't want that in our drinking water do we?" They agree with me and never ask what the other 1% of heavy metal is that I'm finding (the gold of course!)...LOL

Yes, of course!
