Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
I'm in Bible College right now, training to be a missionary. I'm still praying as to which field God would have me serve on... but over the last year, I've prayed and researched a lot on the Fiji Islands...
Now since THing is my hobby, this is where my question stems from:
Does anyone know of any treasure leads/stories about or on the Fiji Islands? Any sunken ships in the area? Any European or Asian pirates called into port there?
Just wondering... it's been on my mind for quite some time now, and I figured this is as best a place as any to try and jog some minds. So if anyone's come across anything that would be of benefit to my knowledge, please post it on this thread. Thanks in advance!!

Vatu Vara Island....
“The island was at one time bought and occupied by Joe Thompson, and American seaman to whose movements and affluence a great deal of mystery where attached. He seemingly had an endless supply of gold coins, the source of which he could never be induced to divulge; and as there was one part of the island which he would allow no one to approach, it was thought that he had buried the treasure there. The truth of the matter was never known. Thompson was insane at the time of his death, and the secret of his buried treasure, if it ever existed, died with him.”

Arakronn,
That's really pretty sweet!? Definitely a start... but my only problem, I've been searching through all my maps and don't seem to see "Vatu Vara Island" anywhere on them??? Can you specify?

Google Earth....type in "Vatu Vara Island". It's east of Fiji (about 70 miles east of Koro).
Forbes also listed it as the world's most expensive island (for sale at $75 million)...it's about 20 miles west of Mel Gibson's island, Mango.

you now what?
I will move with you, to Fiji island to live there, sleeping in a hammock, enjoying the nature, fishing, no taxes, no bills, no terrorist, no high cost gas, no house insurance payment, no property taxes, no hurricane, no credit check, no moneydown, no security deposit, no metal detector restrictions, no national park,no bulls, no isolated finds law, just living in peace of mind with God, free live, living in a real free country.

yeap, I will.

Amona,
I kinda understand where you're coming from regarding all the "issues" we have here in the States. As much as I hate to say it though, all of those things we feel we are "limited" to here in the United States are actually considered blessings by probably 80% of the rest of the world who aren't so fortunate to have payments to make on a house they can live in, high gas prices for a vehicle to drive around in (for no real reasons at times) instead of walking miles to get a drink of clean water, oppressing laws that can also keep you safe every day instead of having to worry if yourself, your spouse and most importantly your children will be shot by some guerrilla in the middle of the night, not to mention having people who will step up to live & DIE for our country because they believe in keeping it and not allowing other countries or forces take it from us. I try my best to thank God daily for what we've been given with here in the United States. It may not be to my liking sometimes how the government rules us with an iron fist at times, but at least we have a government and are not being held captive by people with machine guns.
I hope you don't take what I've said as criticism... I really do hope that I can make the best out of wherever God leads me in the Christian ministry and what provisions He allows for in my life. My soul purpose in going to the Missions Field, whether it be in Fiji or another place God wants me, I want to tell people about what I've found through Christ in my life.
Most of the people in Fiji, though some work in the main cities, still live VERY primitive in the jungles and in villages... most with no electricity (how am I gonna check TreasureNet every day????) and no running water or plumbing. They even still cook over fires for their meals... that which I'm certainly not opposed to! lol
If I go over there though, look me up and come visit!! It'd be fun to have some T-Net buddies in another part of the world...

I do everyday too but issues nobody can deny it. We're living with many conflict, Irak war, Illegal immigration, increase taxes, etc. Those issues stress us out big time. I understand what you trying to post here, my fiancee from Colombia and I has been many time there and I know what is guerrilla, prostitution, civil war, etc. but I'm living in America, according with that true I express my opinion as American citizen.Maybe we're not living among guerrillas but we're under terrorist attack warning all time ,maybe we don't have girls working in prostitution on the street but we have child pornography a lots, maybe we don't have (like you said)

your spouse and most importantly your children will be shot by some guerrilla in the middle of the night

but we had couple months ago 2 Gangster gunshot a Mexican family in the middle of the night over the 1-95 highway here in Palm beach,Florida, the whole family dead.
We have our own problems, we're not living in a paradise.I'm not complaing about America's living, only I would like to makes many things that I can't do.

God Bless you

Amona... I'd have to agree with you, my man. There is alot of things going on that's just too hard to ignore. I just have a feeling that it's only going to get worse with a collapse of our economy and possibly someday a war here in our own country. If I'm still here, I will fight to protect our country. No doubts about it. I'm glad to know you understand where I'm coming from... I just feel that too many people aren't as thankful as they once were in this country. It really sickens me. I'm also sorry to hear about that family getting shot down in Florida. I'm from Saint Petersburg and usually hear about that stuff down there, except for when I'm up here in College in Missouri. Talk about the boondocks!! lol I just hope this country, somehow, can get back to it's roots and establish the type of government we were founded upon. Just my opinion though.

Only I say this: If the whole world believe in the bible and Jesus, we wouldn't suffer the problems that we're living.

Mean while, I wish you can go to Fiji to metal detecting and find coins. This summer I expect to be in Mona Island to treasure hunting or the same Puerto Rico with others treasure hunter to detect old Spanish coins.

God bless you

Amona

Yeah, again I agree with you... I think I read a post talking about you all Treasure Hunting down there. I definitely wish I were able to do something like that!!! I hope it goes well for you all! Let me know how it goes... God Bless you too Bro!

Don't even think about treasure hunting in Fiji....I have made my posts to another post on this website in reference to what you want to do....I am not going to repeat my posts, but IF you decide that you want to treasure hunt in Fiji, I can guarantee two things: You will get caught, and you will go to prison....and by the way, all of the Pacific Oceans have a restriction on finding and recovery artifacts; primarily, recovering WWII relics....I am in the Fiji community, and know the people and customs well...I have also had extensive travels to many Island chains in both the North Pacific, and South Pacific Oceans, and trust me, I am giving you accurate advice....SushiDog

I've read your other post already... and with all due respect, you've stated yourself that you've never even BEEN to Fiji. I'm glad you're on the up & up for the place, but this thread is THREE years old... ::)
And if I was ever led to Fiji, it would be to live there and not primarily to treasure hunt.
