Does anybody have any idea what this is? I I originally thought it was a fireplace but its shaped kind of funny and it's level with the ground and there were no other bricks laying around. There was also a bunch of barrels and metal piping around . I'm thinking It could be a fireplace that was converted into a moon shine still or a kiln used to produce turpentine and then was used to make moon shine. This area of North Carolina was the biggest exporter of turpentine in the world back in the 1800s. It was also well known for its moo shine back in the day. Any thoughts?u

The brick work doesn't look that old, neither do the barrels. We spend a lot time in Western NC. Most of the time when you find a barrel and piece of pipe in the woods, It's a still. Tony
