I removed this photo, as it appeared to be in poor tasteto some. It was intended strictly for humor. I am sorry if I upset anyone. That was not my intention.

It wasn't about the depth but rather the target seperation, something The Ace series hasn't got. Being able to detect a coin lying next to under or on top of a nail. The Ace already has a 9x12 coil that goes as deep as anyone really needs. But being able to hunt without worring about masking would sure make me allot happier.
;D ;D ;D

But that's OK Garrett, that's probably why God invented the Tesoro Line.

Relax.....this is pure humor. :icon_jokercolor:

I am relaxed John, sorry if my post sounded harsh. I read the post from the feller who has the old Garret collection so I saw the huge coil before. Just wanted to clarify my interest in the After market coil. And also wanted to make the point, which I'm trying to do for all MD manufacturers that the next big step must be better target ID and Seperation, not depth. Were all already not able to dig targets of considerable depth due to increased regulatory pressures so being able to clearly define targets in trashy areas would go along way towards keeping the interest high. :tongue3:

Howdy John.

I do not think the use the same technology, sure the shape is similar but that says very little of the technology inside of the coil.

And BTW it is a copy of the Nexus coils, thats what Detech based their coil design on.
At least according to what I've heard a while back.

Boomer you have a point indeed.

.....................I do not know why my Big coil was dragged into this discussion!! The large Garrett coils(the 12 by 24 inch and the 24 by 24 inch) were made specifically for Cache-Large object searching not for individual coins! The person doing Coin-Hunting would not use these larger coils as sensitivity to coins is lacking!!....................Now the newer coils do have sensitivity to large and small objects!!....................The newer Garretts may have a problem with target masking....................I really do not know...................The older Garretts without discrimination did not have a problem with target masking since discrimination must be used for target masking to take into effect!!....................I think that the bottom line is one needs to be comfortable and knowledgeable about what detector they are using!! Every detector has faults and pluses!! Knowing the Capabilities and limitations of your detector is a must!!.................I have many detectors that I use besides the Garrett's................Knowing when to use a particular detector is just part of the game!!.........................Joe
