The subject, of course, is the Sacred Heart of Mary. Because of its worldwide religious veneration, literally millions of prints exist, many of which bear no artist's name or any indication of their origin. Compare it, for example, to this currently available stock (generic) print.

Agreed!

Here's an example, a bit less elaborate, valued at $750. It's from Germany, late 19th century. Larger, more ornate ones can easily fetch four figures.

PBK,

thanks.

I sat with the painting last night. It has a name though the artist may be unknown. Like I said, "I sat with the painting last night"

No, it is legal, not stolen, as far as I know.

Small bits on history of item
Has been moving around and in storage for some time. Think it
was the property of a Polish family, wife died in 1966 husband passed 1971; ancestry Polish; came from Poland; late 1800's. very early 1900's. Husband worked in Chicago Stock Yards; Information I know is not much help in id'ing; date may help; Polish family may help. :icon_scratch:

Thanks for info.

Gypsy Heart,

yes, the frame caught my eye also. Don't
see something like that every day.

Did not know about "tramp" art. Very interesting and
another avenue of search. Just checked
google and seems lots of info.

Thank you very much for the time and effort.

PBK,

Price "$750"; I'm money short; ;D but have so hard of a time
selling something I have found; This will sit somewhere until
I'm gone and those who are left throw it out. >:(
Again, thanks.

I have a whole house full of stuff just like that, I`m the only one in
my immediate family that "collects". I decided to start displaying some
of those obscure pieces in my office instead of letting them collect dust.

Another solution is to label valuable items and put some sort of an approximate value on it, and date it--just in case--so folks will know what it is. :)

Good idea the labeling of objects. I know of too many older widows tht let valuable things go for a song. My mother-in-law had a garaged immaculate 1976 Pontiac with only 30,000 miles on it. It had leather seats and was a beautiful metallic blue hardtop. v-8 engine with all power. She lost most of her vision and couldn't drive. One day she up and sold it to a salvage for $500.00 without telling anyone. It could have fetched about 10 thou easily! I nearly had a cow, but there was nothing I could do about it after it was gone. M ::) nty

That image corresponds to the so-called by the chatolic people "Virgen Dolorosa" ( painful virgin). Look at google images "virgen dolorosa" or "virgen de los dolores"

Stick it in the back of the frig...after a month or so it will be so ugly that someone will throw it out as a lab experiment gone wrong.

I came across another painting sitting in my sunroom
for now.

Makes me think I may be dealing with some sort of Spanish influence with these paintings. :icon_scratch:

Again thanks,

Shermanville,

The statue? I agree with your thoughts that this may be Spanish but only thought that due to the frame.

She plucked it from your plants ;D I don't know how to place arrow heads on lines.

Finally finding some time to get back on here.

Trying to Google for the information on the origins of the picture.

The frame looks like some Mexican frames I have seen. Will keep trying.

Angelo,

got all these strange religious things around the
house now; did hear some type of sounds last
night.
Sounded like chanting. ;D
Smell of flowers in the air. :o

I've been working with google Image Search on
these items, going nuts. :P

Good hearing from you again.

ENTHUSIASTIC CATHOLIC TO THE RESCUE!!

This pic is Our Lady of Guadelupe. The first pic was probably European, maybe American. Same Person (Virgin Mary), different Apparition. OL Guadelupe is particularly revered by people of Latino descent since she appeared in Central America somewhere and is ultimately held responsible for the end of child sacrifice among the natives.
So there. Learn something new everyday. Please pardon the enthusiastic tooting of my own horn. :occasion18:
