Can you make out any letters besides the O on the top line? That salt really ate it up.

I added another line but the top remains a mystery. :icon_scratch:

Re: Top Line

Thanks to all for your research!!
have written to the Knock Shrine asking for any info they may provide.
interestingly, I have a locket similar to one shown on their webpage
http://db.museumsofmayo.com/[email protected]@.3b9dabd9
The top line may be 'Knock Shrine', seems to fit

Re: mail from 'Knock Shrine'

Greetings all,
Wrote to Knock Shrine, Got the following response & pic of original.
Thanks for your efforts in solving this one !! Green check !

Thank you for sending those wonderful images of the medal you found.
We have one of those medals in our collection. I have attached images.
The inscription at the top reads "Cnoc Muire". The style of the Irish in this inscription is pre-1960's. This is the only clue we have in regards dating the medal. It was probably sold in Knock as a souvenir. The medal we have in the museum was donated by a lady who bought it in a jumble sale in London in the 1970's. It is very light in weight, possibly made of aluminium alloy.
Thank you again for the pictures which we found so interesting.
Kind regards
Claire Lavin
