Found this a couple weeks ago and I just now got to taking a closer look at it. It says " O Mary conceived without sin pray for us who have recourse to thee" and "1830" on the front.

On the back is an M entwined around a bar, with a cross on top. Below are two hearts. All is surrounded by twelve stars.

It appears to be brass, and is roughly the size of a dime.

Can anyone give me some background on this piece?

I've found silver "Miraculous Mary" medals twice, but they never had that trefoil shape that yours has.

Neat find. Despite the "1830" date, yours is almost certainly a 20th century item.

I wouldn't call it recent, but it most likely is 20th century, as I mentioned.

I am guessing the last one I found to be from the 1950s or thereabouts, judging from the stuff I found near it.

His might be a little older than that, but I would be surprised if it was more than about 80 years old.

This does not mean it isn't still a cool find, of course.

Yeah, I didn't figure the date to be an age, but more likely the year an "order" or whatever was founded. Thanks for the links guys, this has definately got some interesting history behind it! :)
