Ice harvesting around Truckee California was a very lucrative business in the 19th century. I know of many sites where they did it. They have all been heavily detected, but that's not going to stop me!
Not much has been left besides thousands of tin cans and tens of thousands of square nails.
Enter the magnet! Cleaned up a small area and worked it over with the Legend.

This particular site was set up in 1868 and operated until 1927.
Here's more info if you're curious:

The big iron piece in the middle is off an ice harvesting gaff as seen in this photo:

The slotted piece above it looks familiar but I can't place it.
Any ideas?

The silver plated flatware is Wm A. Rogers Hotel Plate and has held up very well.
The shell casing is a 40-82 WCF, a first for me.
The greenish piece with all the holes in it is another mystery to me. It's stamped; B&H Nov 20 94

Yes Sir
Well done …
Congratulations on your success

You have a 10-hole, diatonic, harmonica reed plate. Possibly from
A Hohner harmonica.
In German, the reed plate would be: stimmplatte. 😊
There was an India company that made harmonicas: “B.H. Industries”.
I haven’t seen it as “B & H” though.
The safety razor head is pretty cool too! Congrats on a successful hunt.👍🏼

40-82..would that be a .40 cal. and 82 grains of black powder?

Love that area around Truckee and Donner Lake. Lived there for a summer a few decades ago.
