Metal Detecting
Im using a mx sport with small 7 inch dd when i"m hunting home sites. I have no problem figuring out nails normally. Theres occasionally an anomaly with the larger short/stumpy square nails that rings up copper for me. But not often enough to worry about it. I Also usually hunt in all metal mode(unless I am feeling lazy)which gives me better idea about whats in the ground. I Hear the dues is a great relic machine as well.

I use the MXT PRO for relic hunting here in Georgia. I hear that the Deus is a good detector for relics too. I would also check into the Garrett AT Gold. It operates at 18khz, has a threshold feature for hearing deep relics, and is also waterproof up to 10ft. fresh water. Good luck in your quest.

There is no short answer for this. I use all three of the detectors I own for relics. I enjoy history as much as the coins.

I can help ya with your etrac problem. Just get a small coil. There is also a lot of info out there on different set ups. But the etrac is not the goto machine for relics.

The F75 can cover a lot of ground real fast and has decent depth. I enjoy all the programs that help with finding stuff. But with relics, I just dig it all. If in nails and tin, I just cherry picks unless I bring a screen and screen the first few inches of dirt.

The AT Pro with the 5x8 coil is awesome. Just the right tool for the job. Not going to win any awards, but what a fun machine. My other two machines can out hunt it, but they are not simple to use. They have multiple programs running at the same time so you have to stop and switch back and forth to confirm targets. The AT Pro has a button called Iron Disc.

That was the short version.

I have an AT Pro with the 5x8,and have for years, also have 5x10 Coiltek, and Sunray X-5 for the Etrac, and like them all, but a 5 inch coil would not be my choice for a large home site

Cooper, I am always open to learning new things. While open fields and large areas could be a challenge with a small coil. In the nails you really need a good coil. Am I to understand you would get the feel of the site and mark the trash areas with a large coil first like I do?

I own three coils or more for each detector. Large, stock, and Small/specialty.
