Relic Identicfication - Please Help

All of the following finds come from an 1800's mansion. General Grant stayed there at one point during the Civil War. Most of these items I have identified and know what they are, but I need help on dating them. Here's what I have:

I dug some flat buttons and one is interesting.
Upon closer examination of them, I noticed one says "EST" with "–––>>>>>>" going around in a circle on the back of it.
Originally I thought EST would be standing for when the company was made, but after checking where the date should be (in theory) on the opposite side of EST, it's not there. Only more ">>>>" my assumption is that EST is the end of a word. I have attached pictures so maybe you can help identify it.
If you can't help with that, can you suggest any NON-ABRASIVE cleaning methods to bring out some detail? I'd appreciate it.

1. Appears to be a plate from an electric pole or GE appliance. Patent March 11, 1919.

2. Some kind of flat/round button with shank. Age?

3. Some kind of buckle. Appears to be iron.





4. Marble. Large. Age?

5. Marble. Small. Age?

6. Pottery. "GOODWIN BR?G" ? = ineligible.

7. Military ribbon holder?? Age? Need help on this one.

8. Looks like a bullet but I don't think it is. Silver color. Very light. Almost feels hollow. Cast?

9. Pistol ball. Caliber? Age?

10. Small button. Clip to another button style.

11. Jeans button. Copper? Age?

12. Button. Very bent. Metal. Two holes. Age?

13. Looks like a chess piece but inside is threaded. Maybe like the top of a lamp?

14. Flag Grommet? Age?

15. Buckle. Type? Age?

16. Earring. Old? Silver?






17. Small button. Don't care too much about this.

18. Shoe Buckle? Found like that in hole.

19. Mushroom Bullet? Not sure...

20. Large flag grommet?

Try ketchup. It cleans copper coins really well.. Dip it in it for about 30-45 seconds. Hatwaad

#2 looks like a one piece pewter button. Possible military. Can you take better photos of that one?

Will do. I don't think it's military though - no markings. I can't tell if its pewter or something else.

The "EST" may indeed be part of a word. Lots of civilian buttons had slogans on the back like "BEST GILT" or "BEST QUALITY" etc.

I am not seeing anything that says Civil War era to be honest other than the lead and of course a grommet. Maybe some colonial era marbles. If it was me I would move this to the "what is it" section.
