This little thing is either a bent button or coin.
I can't tell.

This piece was fun for about 15 seconds. :dontknow:

Remember Fishy's whole wheat toast from last time?

Well, after soaking, I can see now that it is a 1915 D. :dontknow:

Soooo, again....why am I doing this?

Thanks for peeking.

I'm sorry guys. I'm just not seeing it. I could say those words ANYwhere I hunt. Why, again, should I spend three hours
of what I have left, to *MAYBE* find something here, when I could be *finding* stuff in between the "good" stuff? :dontknow:

Guess relic hunting just isn't my venue.

Nice hunt!!! Congrats and HH

Are you getting that "Rustic" feeling yet?

In a word.....no. :(

The uneven ground, the plants that tug at every single step (making me feel like I'm trying to run
underwater), the one non-ferrous hit in every 500, the rocks (no matter where I dig), finding a coin
once in 3 hours, To give you an indication, when the wheat penny was first uncovered, it looked like
an indian head cent. Know what I said when I saw it? "Whoopie! 4 hours and I have a single, burnt indian head. This
is worth it!?!?"
Doesn't sound too encouraging to me. If you guys are gonna convert me....you're just gonna have to do better....and SOON! :dontknow:
Clad factories are looking better and better all the time. :coffee2:

OK, my guess is that your experiment is to see what happens when using a PI machine to pull coin-sized targets ;-)

You know we are supposed to enjoy our hobby, if you aren't having fun move to where you will. Good luck. Art

Actually, Art, that was pretty much the point of my experiment.
We , *each*, have to define to ourselves just what it is that makes us happiest.

I think this started out to be just an experiment about places we skip over every time
we go out to get to some "greener pastures". My trouble here is that it happens to be a farm field.
I already know they aren't my favorite place to walk.

I misnamed the thread as a relic experiment but it's really about finding places that we may be skipping
over. This field really has proven itself worthy of a good relic hunter. It's shown signs. I'm just not as happy
fighting for the rare, albeit beautiful, finds they offer up.

I'll attempt a few more walks, when I'm in the mood to see if I can prove that theory.

Thanks for the kind reminder.

Be happy folks!

But you have proven that you are a better MD'er than when you first searched the field years back.
You have gained knowledge and skills over the years.

Sometimes we are made to wait because that which we seek is not quite ready to be found yet.
There is a story where the seventh time was the charm, because he refused to believe otherwise, and was rewarded.

If wandering in the field gives you joy, then you are a richer man for believing in that which you do not yet hold in your hand, but happily search for.
Sometimes it is the journey which is the prize, it gives us time to think.

The one thing i can say about my forays, i have yet to come home empty handed, my prizes (rocks included) may not be prizes to others but they make me happy, that in its self is priceless.

Today while searching, i saw a small clear pebble on the ground i picked it up thinking "what if this is a diamond?"
....the little voice said to me...
"No, put it down, its rock salt"
