Went out for a walk at the mansion today. Five hours, not a single coin. But, after the weather we've been having, I enjoyed every minute! :)

Here's the over all:

A soldier who went to pieces.

About a half pound of lead. :dontknow:

IMGA3150.JPG
3 pieces of lead, the middle one is sort of squarish and might be one that was whittled on a bit.

Either a button or a knob off something. :dontknow:

Gotta watch those little bits of unidentified pieces of metal.
I didn't even know this was a piece of jewelry in the field.
Let alone the 4 stones! LOL

IMGA3156.JPG
And this one, I just figured, too late, just a broken bit of an old buckle.

But, turn it over and clean it up a bit and it becomes very interesting!

IMGA3157.JPG

Like I said, watch those "scrap" pieces of metal! :)

IMGA3158.JPG

Like this bent piece of twisted wire that almost got put in the trash pouch.
'Til I noticed the patina and the shine.

Turn it over and....

IMGA3159.JPG

Viola!!!

And what's more:

IMGA3161.JPG

ALSO, it weighs a good 12 grams!

Almost as good as finding 6 silver dimes in one hole! LOL

Thanks for peeking!

Nice Score on the silver and also on your lead piece's the whittled one looks like it had rings on it like a C.W bullet

Cool finds.you would think there would be some coins there amongst all that.

Nice finds! Congrats and HH!

Well, I've been hitting this place for a few months now. It's not surprising that coins are scarce. But, actually, my last hunt here did give me two very nice coins, a merc and a silver Canadian fish-scale nickel. Can't expect them every time out. ;)

Thanks!

The silver piece dates from 1932-1979. Very enjoyable to find!

Thanks!

Thanks VP!

I just looked at the picture of the buckle remnant. Wow that came out dark!!

Can anybody see that it has two initials and the date 1857? :icon_scratch:
That's what made it interesting to me. :)

Great stuff! Love the silver surprise. Yesterday I found a ring marked STC and I kept trying to find out the maker; looked like silver, but couldn't be sure. Then I finally realized - duh - that it was STG (sterling), not STC. What do you think that silver thing you found originally was? A bracelet?

Yep, surely it used to be a bracelet. Probably got mangled in some dirt moving action.

Wish I had the rest of that buckle now, too. :)

Thanks!
