Bought an antique regulator clock at an auction for $13. It is 41" long. There are no maker marks on the clock mechanism except two initials that I assume are the craftsman's. However, on the face the minute hand has the numbers 79 made into the hand itself. I can't find any info on a clock like this. Does anyone know who the manufacturer might be? I assume that the numbers indicate the year of production not a model number. Thanks for any help. DSCI3108.JPGDSCI3109.JPG

With old clocks and radios a lot of furniture makers would buy the guts and put in their own cabinet and call it theirs. Look inside the clock on the back of the works and look for "Franz Hermle" stamped into the metal. That is most common and very high quality, either way you got a great deal, most just need a little cleaning of the hard old grease off and run like a clock.

Thanks, I did remove the clock mechanism to work on it and there are no markings on the front or back or inside of the clock, other than the initials CL on the back of the clock. Actually, the clock works fine with the correct amount of lead weights attached.

A pic of the movement might get us closer but I have bought many old clocks because they had Franz Hermle movements but the cabinet was just made by grandpa or Joe & Sally... Does it say "Regulator" somewhere or is that just the style you are referring to because I don't remember ever seeing a Regulator in that style?

Obviously I know very little (actually nothing) about clocks, so I will try to be more specific if that will help. The clock is actually 35 long and 11" wide. It has two chiming rods. There are no markings at all other than the aforementioned initials. It does have a beat plate (pictured). I called it a regulator clock but I don't know if that is the correct title or not. Regulator is not given anywhere on the clock. It took three weights but it came without any, so I added the elongated weights to the clock. I've added some additional pictures if that will help. Actually I was mostly intrigued by the numerals on the minute hand. Thanks for any helpDSCI3110.JPGDSCI3111.JPGDSCI3112.JPGDSCI3113.JPGDSCI3114.JPG
