I was out detecting and found some modern coinage and one wheatie. But this red tailed hawk was my find of the day. Usually they are quite skittish but he stuck around for me to get a photo. Since I was moving slow swinging the detector, I'm guessing he didn't pose me as a threat. Too bad I didn't have my better camera with me for a higher quality shot.

Nice photo capture! I've noticed through the generations of hawks that they are not as scared of us humans as they used to be, eh. We have quite a few around our house, in the country. See em on a daily basis. The owls too are not as skittish, my daughter walked up to one and got several pics.

Funny thing is that red tailed hawks are actually not hawks at all, but rather they are buzzards. and what people like to call buzzards are actually vultures and a member of the condor family. Early settlers just messed this up and it stuck.
