Not sure if this is a trinket dish or an ash tray.
I did an acid test on this (on the bottom) Thinking it was silver but to my surprise it was a bright red copper. I am very curious as to why it says "Wuerttemberg" instead of Wurttemberg or Baden-Wurttemberg as well. If anyone can date this I would be greatly appreciative. The crest is of the city to my knowledge from what I did find on the web so far.

** Hard to tell because they are worn down a bit.
could possibly be the town

My interest again is why the name is spelled differently, what year did they change "Wuerttemberg" to the later? I read somewhere the name was changed in 1812 or 1816 I think it was but I cannot find what i found over a year ago :(

Do the smaller things on the sides with the squiggly bits look like they could be the coat of arms listed for the County of Württemberg? I can't really tell from the photo.

It looks like the top says "STADT STUTTGART" -- the horse in the middle right looks like the coat of arms for the city of Stuttgart:

The stag in the middle left looks kind of like the coat of arms for the town of Sankt Blasien.

I don't know what any of that means but it's interesting. :)

So it has no markings on it's base?

FailCat made a great work on IDing the coats of arms, both look correct and palusible to me , Skt Blasien is in Wuerttemberg and Stutgart is the Landeshauptstadt, the capital city of the county.
