This is neat and would look nice if it were polished. Still looks nice, but I don't really know what it is...

It's a rock that was partially buried in soil containing mineral iron.

If you look closely you will see fossil fragments. The stone is probably limestone and is stained red on one end by iron in the soil. The yellow end is iron staining also but in a different oxidation state due to being exposed to the air and weather.

Also if you break the rock open it should be grey in color with a sugary texture and the outer coloring (staining) will be a thin coating.
