Hi everybody.
For some reason I've never noticed this topic on the forum. It made me think of something that happend a while back. The city I live in has a curb side recycling program. Every Thur. night I would drag the recycle bags to the curb. Every Fri. morning this little old lady (looked to be in her 70's) would stop in a pick up and throw any of the bags w/ aluminum cans in the back and drive off. We dont have to seperate the recyclables so she would get the cans and whatever else was in the bags. Used to drive my wife crazy, because she was sure that half of our recycleables were going in the trash. I started puting the aluminum in its own bag. About a month later we got an unsigned thank you card in the mail that just said "thanks for the cans". Pretty thoughtful of the old lady, you know.

later.

That was nice to do that for her. I don't know if you have ever checked around your house but cans pay anywhere from 55 cent up tp 65 cents a pound in VA. It is one of the top items paying more money right now in scrap. I collect them myself.
Pepperpump ;)

That is one heck of a story. Thanks for sharing and good for you helping out the little old lady ;)

You would be surprised to know that any scrap aluminum in your house is recyclable, not just cans. Such things as cat food cans, used aluminum foil, pie pans, tuna fish cans. We carry out at a chinese restuarant and their trays are aluminum. I just rinse them off and save them till I have a enough to haul to the recyling center.
