Yesterday, I was metal detecting the spot where I recently found an Omega 14K gold wristwatch when a man jogged over to me. He asked me if I could help him to locate a 10K gold ring he lost in his front yard a year ago. I told him I'd give it shot, but no guarantee that I'd find it. He only lives about 1/2 mile from me, so it wasn't out of my way.

Went to his house today and spent 1 1/2 hours digging up pulltabs and can slaw. Also found a few clad dimes and quite a few pennies, but no ring. I'd had about enough, so I was working my way back to my car when I got a 52 signal on my AT Pro. Dug about two inches down and there it was, a 10K gold ring with a 3D eagle design on it! The guy was shocked that I actully found it. Guess he had lost hope in my detecting skills after seeing me dig so much trash! He wanted to pay me for my trouble, but I declined. So he gave me a dozen of his free range chicken eggs and a few hand tools!

Here's a couple of pics. I don't have any pics of it cleaned up because it was geting dark outside and I was cold and tired. But I did find a photo of one that's very similar to his ring to give you an idea of what it looked like.

Congratulations on finding the guy's ring and returning it to him. Great move. I had the same thing happen one time. I was detecting a school yard when a guy from an apartment came over and asked me to look for an engagement ring his then fiancé threw across the street when she broke up with him. It took me about 5 minutes to find the ring just beyond the edge of the sidewalk. He was very happy to get it back.
