All Treasure Hunting
We decided today to drive to one of our furthest away farms. It was a bit of a risk as we haven't been there for nearly 1 year & we had no idea of which crops were in which fields.
We had a quick chat with the owner & then tried an area we had not done before. After 10 minutes we knew we should move on.

We then went to a corner of a field where we had our best results for Roman Coins. Last year was our first year on this land/field (although they had a resident detectorist for some years) & we got as many Roman bronze coins (+1) in 4 hours as we did in the whole of last year.
2 Poor quality Roman Silvers (first from the field) - Now reached our 20 target for the year:hello2:
23 Roman Bronze Coins
Henry III hammered Cut Qrter
1806 Penny
Antwerp 16th C Coin Weight
Broken Roman Ring
Shame about the pewter 18th C button.:sadsmiley:
Tudor Button
Cloth Seal
Medieval Leather Mount
Circa 1830s Northants Yeomanry Button:icon_thumright:

UPDATE:
The expert somewhat agrees with my NY button guess:
'Certainly would appear to be although there are a few unknown NYs and North Yorks but the geography fits for the style that was worn certainly by the Kettering Troop until 1860. There are a number of other short lived troops from 1830-38 but its not known if they wore this or had their own individual styles.'

Absolutely incredible finds......... You guys ROCK. Congrats :hello:

Gosh those fields are incredible! Amazing finds. Congrats.

Oh your Romans are coming up looking pretty nice indeed, the soils seem to be a kind in some the fields. Nice going on the Cut Quarter and the button.

Lots of goodies, congrats! I like the little flat square piece with the hand print on it!

Man, when you find old coins you don't mess around!!!! Very cool, congrats!

What is the thing with the raised hand?

Thats the 16th C Coin Weight from Antwerp, Belgium for weighing their gold coins.

We had to travel a long way to find this little spot & its just a small bank of sandy soil in a sea of heavy clay, which is why the Roman's were there as well.

Thank you. They are probably hard to but seem to come up fairly often on the site. Maybe I just happen to be reading the entries at the right time.

Some more really nice finds Cru. Love the coin weight.
ZDD

recon, and first silver from that field, so what detector found the silver and how deep. Great finds!!!

You had a good day again, worth the long ride for sure! Too bad the Antoniane are broken. Bronzes are looking fine!
The hand means that the ruler/emperor gave his hand for a coin, to confirm the authenticity. Sometimes seen on coins, this is the first coin weight i see with that symbol. Very cool! My fave find. Congrats!

All silvers fell to the XP, not much more than 3 inches in a young winter wheat crop.
