Hello fellow detectorists. I am doing some research for some new waterproof boots and was wondering if anybody is happy and/or unhappy with the ones you're wearing now? At the moment I am wearing some ankle high Mucks but will probably switch over to a taller boot. The Mucks are nice for ruggedness and waterproof but by the end of the day, the bottom of my feet are pretty damn sore. I change out the insoles regularly so I'm thinking the Mucks are just too stiff and/or not enough cushion for me.

What are y'all wearing?

Lacrosse are nice boots. Rural Kind had them 50% off today. Not sure if you have one in your area?

I have worn bates before and some of them are nice but from what I remember, they are not waterproof.

One of the boots I'm looking at are the Tidewe hunting boots. They seem to have good reviews.

I have a few types of footwear that go with different types of detecting.
Always a good sole to protect the feet from digging.
Soft sole=sore even bruised heel/insteps at the end of the day.

Lesson learnt-bought a pair of combat lace ups.
Listened to the surplus Store Military dude.
"We jog 20 miles on pavement in training manoeuvres".
Soft cushion sole felt great like wearing slippers-out in real world of digging it was hell for 2 weeks of digging hundreds of targets every day, might as well wore my slippers as I felt everything.

Dry slightly sticky, hay, pasture, bush I wear a Bloodstone slip on type of boot.
Long treks of climbing through rough terrain a lace up type of boot for ankle support
Muddy, crossing water logged pasture, small creeks a Baffin insulated high top boot.
The beach a firm soled water shoe

I like my Kamik boots. They reach my upper calf. Have an insert for when it’s cold out. I usually keep them in most of the year. If you take them out you’ll need an insole. Got them at Cabela’s.

It might not just be a better boot that will ease the pain of being on your feet all day. My feet and ankle began to ache more as I got older. I went to a foot specialist and he did all these detailed measurements of my feet. He said he will custom design special insoles for me to put in my footwear. I said, so you think that'll do the trick and he said, I guarantee it'll do the trick and you'll be walking as far as a young man again. He was right. It took a week or so for my $250. custom insoles to be made, but boy oh boy was he right. I haven't had the pain like I was experiencing ever since. I bet that's been over six years now.

I tried those and sent them back , they ran small in size . then bought mucks , sent them back as they leaked the first time they got wet , then tried ozark trail that are leaking after 1 month. then some other china boots from amozon that were too big and floppy.. living on a farm I wear muck style boots everyday for the past 20 years , this year has not been good to me in the boot dept. yea the bates shown are not waterproof.

It seems that rubber boots, mudders, are being produced to be plain crap. Yet the price isn't part of the equation.
I bought a pair of Baffin -50 insulated/waterproof and the top area that bends when a person walks cracks.
Yup a weak spot, and it seems like every style does the same.

I wear a pair of yellow rubber boots from ace, roughly knee high and slightly oversized so I can wear my regular tenny shoes when wearing them. No leak's I enjoy them very much. If i need to go into deeper water, I put on the chest waders, same concept, oversized so my shoes slide in and out easily.

Depends what you are looking for and if they are sore from digging hard ground with the shovel or walking. I prefer a laced boot unless spending time in the water, I do like my LaCrosse's for a waterproof Muck type boot. I have 7mm ones for cold weather.
