Nice piece of milk glass but I think you put it in the wrong forum.
It's obviously not the entire piece..
.. and a bit off as far as humor goes in my opinion.

Oh no humor intended by all means. I will delete I guess. Why would you ever think I was being funny?

Because it's obviously Broken and not the entire embossing.
Also..this is the Native American artifacts forum.

Other companies from Keokuk that used embossed bottles include The Crawford Medicine Co.; Dr. Fisk, owner of the Keokuk Proprietary Medicine Co., and Dr. Machin, proprietor of the Iowa Medicine Company, which eventually became the KKK Medicine Comp. you can google it. I saw a cinnamon tin that had same design. Gotta love google.

My apologies ... still don't know why this is in this forum.

I am just glad it wasn't a disrespectful piece. I also learned something new and now I want to know what medicine would have been in this! I love that cinnamon was considered a medicine. (My son thinks it is a treat in his applesauce...surprised the day I told him it was healthy.)

GB. Upon further research, I found that they bottled Seminole Indian liver and kidney cure among mostly dandruff control tonics! Does this count!?

:)
i say they...the article dealt with Iowa medicine bottle companies. The above jumped out at me!

Ha..
I'm moving on.. thanks for the very different info.
... anyone ever think it was strangely ironic that many early U.S. coins had Indian heads on them?

So, a regular artifact forum member finds an odd interesting item that wasn't NA related while artifact hunting and wants to share with the rest if us and posts it. Then gets a little beat up for it, and his post moved to where he likely knows no one.

I think if that's how we are going to play here, we should be moving many of the posts to rocks and minerals instead of answering questions and explaining things to those posters. And those delightful pieces from other parts of the globe that our regular member Joshua puts up on the Native American Artifact forum should be met with the same, "this is the Native American artifacts forum".

Let's lighten up, just a little bit.

I think that many people are at many different levels of research, finding, and study....I am just beginning. GB is a great resource!!! If you look at his post count verses mine or many others, you will note that he has been around a while. I am amazed at his patience, helpfulness, and vast knowledge. I would have been irritated with me a long time ago. We are all human and have so much to offer one another. Keep finding things friends and keep posting! I find sand and occasionally a fossil pinecone. I am thankful GB is a Floridian and puts up with my continuous questions!

Um, post counts are meaningless. He replies to everything. Look how fast he racked up all those posts. Good thing he has google.

Hey ROCKateer,

KKK Medicine Co. made quite a few products in the first few decades of the 20th Century.

il_340x270.392881150_e421.jpg

Interestingly, they had multiple run-ins with the FDA and various State agencies for "misbranding, adulteration," and various other transgressions of the Pure Food & Drug Act: The Journal of the Indiana State Medical Association.

The form of the shard you found suggests a rectangular cold cream jar.
