Took a recent trip to Dahlonega to basically do a scouting trip for a future gold adventure. This was my wife and my first trip to this particular town within the Ga Gold Belt. At first notice, it wasn't an easy trip. No really quick way there. Mostly winding and curvy roads. But it was worth the trip if for nothing else, the small town, friendly atmosphere. The fact that it is a kind of isolated area, makes me curious if the area is still producing gold in any sizeable quantities. Anyone want to brag and show any photos or info on this great town. You dont have to give specifics, but any factual stories would be awesome. We made a mistake in trusting our GPS,(actually told it to use other than paved roads) Careful what you ask for. We got lost and back up in the mountains, there are some really nice and helpful people. We got back on track and made some contacts for the future.
Any input on Dahlonega or surrounding areas.
Thanks for listening.

I have old friends from there and they say the area is tight lipped. Not a bad thing I dont suppose. Wouldnt want a bunch of people snooping in my back yard. But we still have to show the proper respect to the land owners and do what we say. Thanks for the post and awesome pics.

Grew up not too far from Dahlonega. I used to pan some there as a kid. Love the area, wish I could get back up there these days to do some more panning.

If you ever need someone to guide you around the area and show you some places to get good "color" just PM me anytime. I am with the Weekend Gold Miners and have access to 3 properties, and I also know a few other areas both publicly and privately that have good gold in them, both being in Georgia and North Carolina an hour away. There is plenty of gold to be had, none of it is played out either, you just have to know where to look and be willing to work the material in volume....even the old timers had to do it this way. Gold is not only addicting, it's an elusive tease as well!
