Oddball Gold & Silver

Hi all,
Plucked a few goodies in the last week or so.
A busted out dental bridge tooth AND a gold cap, 2.8 and 3.0 grams of around 18K :)
12 gram blob of melted 14K gold, solid piece, tested in 5 spots, sure didn't look like gold til I filed it a little..
two Washingtons, toasty Merc, and two war nickels.
A very nice Sterling University pin, Maine has an awesome state seal.
Farmer, Woodsman, Pine Tree, North Star, and 'Dirigo' (I Lead) banner.
small Sash Buckle, nice design..
and an old sterling earring.

Not as good as my church sale and trash finds, but keepers for sure!
Thanks for looking & HH All !! Herbie.

Herbie my friend, when you said oddball you meant it. I would never expect to find gold fillings-LOL. Gold is good any way you find it. Nice stuff. HH, Quindy.

Very nice finds Herbie! The gold tooth is morbidly cool!
I wonder how the 'blob' of gold happened to get like that? :icon_scratch:

Thanks for the link buddy . . . otherwise I might never have gotten back here! :occasion14:

I was expecting an "odd ball gold and silver" Pine Tree Shilling :laughing7:

makes you wonder how the gold teeth got there

freaky but hey it's gold! wonder what they gonna say when ya plop that down tooth & all at the pawn shop! lol

This post has a Real Bite to It!!!! HH Chug

Thanks Everyone !!
Though posted in 'todays finds' the items came from a few short hunts over the last week or so,
The broken bridge tooth was found in the oldest rockpile/pier foundation at Cob Cove, likely knocked out in a fight on that pier long ago.
The coins, U of Maine pin, and Sash buckle were all from the town dump turned swimming area up in Maine.
The Gold Cap, jewelery and ferrari all came from the 'Big NH Beach' the morning after 'Sandy' visited.
Best Wishes and HH All !! Herbie.
here's a couple more views of the oldie, I'm guessing that it was knocked out of a bridge....

Hi Dave,
That piece of gold was in my bowl of melted lumps, I always keep these for testing unless I'm sure they are aluminum or lead,
I sure got a happy surprise when I started testing this piece !!
wherever you scrape the ugly lump, beautiful yellow shows.
I'm pretty sure it came from the foundation of a shoemakers home that has given up a few Large cents and a seated love token.
(the home DID burn down) It is a piece of melted jewelery, since gold doesn't melt till over 2000', it must have been some fire!
a while back I experimented with melting some jewelery scraps and came up with the same end results,
solid metal attached to some porous slag...
for a small piece, it is very dense at 12 grams, and as said tests at 14K all around, another addition to the gold scrap pouch :)
Best Wishes & hh !! Herbie.
