Relic Hunting
I headed up to Virginia Thursday to meet my friends, Civil War Tin Type Photographers Bob Szabo, (http://www.robertszabo.com) and,
Todd Harrington ( http://www.collodianartistry.com/) for a day of digging in Culpeper Virginia. The early morning started out a little brisk with temps in the 30's. We fired up the trusty Minelab GPX machines, and logged in our Culpeper Va. settings for the highly mineralized soil that is infamous to the area. It wasn't very long when Todd got his first bullet suggesting there was still some relics to be found from the hard hit area we were hunting. We then plucked away throughout the day digging numerous broken buttons and a few intact Eagle buttons spared from the plow. As usual we had a very good time hunting together. The second photo are local NC finds a few days prior including an always welcome 1874 Seated dime. I thought the Indian attachment was pretty cool. I have no Idea what it was from.

Thanks for looking

Very nice relics Mike and ANYONE digging that Culpeper soil needs to get a GPX. I couldn't get used to the "Hot Rocks". Those rocks gave a "85" reading on the F75 display. Good luck with the East Tennessee 3 hunt this weekend. HH, Quindy.

More water needed with your JD, better still never drink on a empty head :laughing9:

Nice haul Mike! Loosk like you're doing quite well with that machine. I just bought a 5000, but am having problems with it right out of the box and I'm pretty upset about it. The threshold knob doesn't work, and I may have other audio issues as well. May have to send it in after only using it for 2 hours. And right in the heart of relic hunting season. Bummer!
