Recent handful of finds, sterling & 1/20th gold

A friend asked me to find a property marker in the corner or their property. This was the first time I have hunted iron only. Thought this would be a breeze, super shallow iron spike has to be easy.

There were iron targets all over this 8’x8’ area. Ran at the lowest power setting, cleaned out a bunch of landscaping staples. Then regrided at half power and finally found it about 6” deep. House is only 1 year old, someone must have pounded it down,

Found my second silver watch back this year (Tacy Watch Co, I think 1920’s)

Both at a site I had pounded last year but decided to hit the trashy area by the outbuilding I had avoided.

Found an IHP with a HighV and Metal Headz this morning. They both found silver, I was skunked until just about the last plug, so I’ll happily take the Cent.

Here’s the handful

Good luck out there!

Congratualtions on the nice finds! :occasion14:

Nice finds, buddy! Never did ask. Did the IHP come up in the zinc penny range?

Nice finds! Your watch has both the model and serial number. It is researchable.

Thx John! It was where the lefty batters box would have been about 6” down. Repeatable high tone (wheat penny range) but with occasional bouncing into iron range signals. I was digging all signals like this one yesterday, most were screw caps. This hole had a nickel sized chunk of rusty iron in it that I pin pointed first then reswung and found the IHP. Wish I could have stayed longer to check out the other park.

Thx! I did a little Googling on Tacy Watch to get the general time frame 1920’s -1930’s. This made sense as I have pulled dozens of coins and relics from this homesite from about 1910 - 1970. (One Seated Half Dime, but this was the only anomaly) From looking at the watch, what do you think the model is?

I think once it's knocked for the winter it could be a good spot.

Yeah I'm not giving up on either of those ball fields yet. High grass definitely an issue for now.

Thad, nice relic finds on your past couple hunts, it never gets old finding Indian Heads.

And a 1/20 10k G on Sterling locket.View attachment 1606928

A couple years ago, I found a sterling necklace stamped "925 2/25 14K"

I thought of it as just plated, but a member here corrected me - it actually contained some gold value.

Weigh it and multiply by 1/20 and that's the weight of the 10k gold in your locket.

Nice locket Thad. Did you give it to your wife? That might buy you some more time in the field :laughing7:

Thx Steve! My wife would melt it down for the 1/20th gold value... only thing that buys me time nowadays is starting at 6 am (getting up at 5 am) on the weekends and making it back before the kids get up...

you helped a friend and helped yourself and found silver and gold. Good deal.
