Those Quarters look neat, but what are those rocks in the photo with them? LOL! Super points you have down in Florida if I do say so myself.

Excellent!

Those are beautiful points....love the color and the SIZE. Don't find the bigguns here like that. Love seeing stuff from other states, and am always amazed at the colors in the coral points..the Marions, Hillsboroughs and Newnans are always gorgeous. Keep those pics coming.

Re: recent Florida finds

Wow Nice!!!! ;D
I saw the show on PBS about the crossing over the ice from the other countries and the DNA part also.
They say that if they tested Americans some of us could be relatives of those who crossed over here that way.
The pink colored one you have in the your flat palm of your hand is close to what I found. Mine is weathered and duller from the water though and much darker from staining.I have some pictures on the way and will post them soon. Can't wait until I can hunt again.I was going to today but had other things to do.I found a real sharp broken point (Tip) on the river shore, but lost it while I was hunting the other stuff. ::) I also keep finding wheat leaf pennies. I found 3 or 4 so far along this same river shore.strange!!

more florida stuff.......most of these points were dug, when my kids were at home, (back in the day) we went "diggin" every weekend. now that i've gotten a little older(and fatter) i dive and probe the lakes and rivers around where i live. i love the st. johns river, full of points and wildlife. if you are ever around the st. johns just fan a hole and see what pops-up

A few years ago I was walking a field looking for arrowheads when a car pulled up and a man got out. He told me he lived in Vt. but had recently moved to Florida and wanted to show me some artifacts that he dug there. He brought out two cases full of coral points that blew me away. These points were bright yellows, oranges, reds and so on. They were all near perfect. I asked him if they were mound digs and he said probably some were. These points looked like candy, while my points looked like chipped rocks.

Are there specific laws in Florida about corral collecting?

Only live coral. It is illegal to collect.

Finding qualitiy artifacts like those here in Vermont could take years. I was told by a indian friend the reason Vermont artifacts are so crude and unrefined is the material they chipped was so sharp the chips would fly in their eyes and blind them, so they couldnt see squat. My guess is they told their kids to go outside the hut and make some arrowheads out of this here flint,,,,me and your mom are busy.
