Recent finds, Stuff to look for.
Hey all, It's gotten pretty cold up here, so my yard sale-ing has shrunk to nothing. Fortunately the thrift stores are always open, so I can still scratch that buying itch. In a post previously by diggummup, I posted some info about finding Pendleton shirts after he posted a Pendleton Blanket and there seemed to be some interest. I'm always open to sharing some things to look for with you guys, so here's a couple clothing sales I've made recently that you all could look for in your hunting.
First up is Wool hunting coats. There is a ludicrously under priced vintage store that I visit from time to time, and last time I went I picked up a couple wool hunting coats, one Red Woolrich and one Green Johnson Woolen Mills. Here they are:
These are great little pieces of Americana to look for, and people go crazy for them. The Johnson Woolen Mills Coat which I got for $15 and listed for $89.99 ended up having close to 20 watchers and several requests to change it to a Buy it now. Strangely, no one bid, So I will Re list it tonight. The woolrich only had 5 watchers, but eventually sold for $89.99 + shipping, got that one for $15 as well. One thing to keep in mind is that these coats do way better if you find larger sizes. I got one of the same woolrich coats in a size 38 or 40 (I forget) for myself on the bay, and it was only $20 free shipping. However, the one I sold was a 46, and it gained way more interest. The Johnson coat was also an XL, which certainly helped.
Another great thing to look for is Vintage Patagonia Fleeces. If you aren't familiar with patagonia, you should be. It is super warm and durable, and if you find one that fits it may be hard to get rid of. Modern patagonia sells quite well, but vintage is nothing to scoff at. I picked up these two at the same vintage store for $10 each, sold the Maroon one for $92 and the purple one for $88, not including shipping. Any size of these are good to buy, made in u.s.a. on the tag is a bonus but not necessary.
Last but not least is old Harley stuff. Many of you may know this, but in case you didn't 80's harley tees are gold. Here's one that I over paid a bit for, $10, but the fact that it is dated '87, is from Las Vegas, and is an XL (XL+ harley stuff is the way to go) I think I should do OK. It's on the bay for $49.99 right now, and has gained some interest.
Also, Here's a sweet 50's baseball glove I found at an estate sale for $2, it is amazingly soft and supple for it's age. I could go out and play catch with it if I wanted to. Figured you guys would like it, It's online for $29.99 (auction), I just put it up today so its hard to say what kind of attention it'll receive. If anyone has any input on value feel free to let me know.
Thanks for looking, hope everyone else is finding good stuff too!
