Hunted the local beach for an hour or so last night, nothing to spectacular to report. Got a few pennies and a few dimes, nothing older than '64 but it was still a blast digging them. The anticipation of what I might find is usually better than what I do find. The small heart shaped doodad is foil material and it has the words "Start Knitting Here" stamped on the front of it. Part of a knitting for first timers kit maybe. Another picture is the front and back of what looks like used to be a piece of jewelry or a pin. Made of copper or brass with a nice silver inlay. There is a nice pattern in the silver too. If it shows in the pictures, you can see the remnants of where the pin broke.
Last picture I have no idea what it is. It clearly has a screw on the top of it and comes to a very sharp point at the end. All I know is that I wouldn't have wanted to be the one to step on it at the beach, oooouuuuchhhh. If anyone has a clue what it might be, let me know, I am curious. Like usual, thanks for looking.

Nice Digs CJ...

Looks like it might be whats left of a compass... ???

Nick

The piece measures 5 1/2" long. I photographed my finds on graph paper so every square is 1/4". The compass idea had crossed my mind Nick, but I think it's to big for that.

On closer inspection, it appears that the piece is adjustable. By loosening the screw on the top you are able to slide the piece with the pointed end through the collar. Still have no idea.
