ah ha, was wondering what you would purchase at a yard sale.and as i thought, you have a pretty good eye.

If I remember my German Fachmann means expert or specialist.

Nice stuff - I have a couple Molas hanging in our living room - (from a free pile ) they are beautiful works of art !

Thanks! Those are a few of my recent buys. I'll post another post with some more stuff. I already have someone interested in the Reds tray for $75. I'm thinking I might take that as that would be the same as me getting like $85.00 on eBay with their fees but darn there just aren't any of these available on eBay to use to make a good judgment call from tho one from '72 that is smaller than this one sold for $55 shipped & that was not a world series winning year either.

Thanks for the tip but I sure couldn't find a single thing Googling E.J. & Finemann together. The place it came from had a lot of Indian & south American/Central America items, probably some mexican stuff as well. The dish has what I would classify as more of a South American or possibly south western Indian type of style. Tho like you said Finemann is German so?? It was made & glazed by a professional not an amateur that's for sure.

Those Molas can be pricy, like in $200-$300 range tho I think what I got is more of a $60 piece, maybe slightly more as it's framed too. I will prolly keep it cause it is quite cool looking & colorful. I'll add it to my trippy hippie room! Do you have pix you can share of yours?

Nice buys. Thanks for sharing...

Regarding your mola... My wife grew up in the Panama Canal Zone and had TONS of molas. Most of the ones they sell in Panama these days are tourist items and of poor quality. Yours appears to be much older and of much better quality. A few months back, I made a lengthy post about molas. That thread can be found here:

I think your $60 estimate is reasonable. Your is unusual in that the image is more abstract. Usually molas depict something recognizable like people or animals. I'm not sure if the more abstract pattern helps or hurts the value. Either way, that is a great buy for $1.00!

Yours appears to be a little faded which makes me think it may have originally been part of a shirt as the Kuna's often made their molas to be used as clothing. Here is an example from my wife's collection:
