It's pretty close to what CVA was using on their muzzleloaders in the 1970's. Whether that was a copy of an earlier design . . . I would say is most likely.

Screw adjustable for both windage and elevation - which is nice. But you are missing the dovetail piece that would attach to the barrel and also allow windage adjustment. And there you see the weakness of the design. That screw gets loose and the sight falls off.
