Really weird plastic piece

Found this plastic piece. 1800 house about 10 inches down. A bunch of weird scrap metal around it. Never seen anything like it. Almost looks like it might be the size of a license plate? Thanks!

Vinyl polymers are the most common type of plastic. (Just sayin')
But I agree. Looks like a purse to me too. Imagine it folded over in half about the middle.
