I believe Philip V Pillar half real, minted Mexico City mint, which is the M with the small o over it for mint mark.

Double checking for a website that explains the assayers marks.

Don

Here is one site but it does not list the assayers for Pillar coinage, just the bust coinage, but it will give you a good idea of what to look for.

Don in SJ is correct:
Felipe V
1/2 real columns, silver, .916 fine;M little 'o' mintmark; Mexico Cty.
A crowned coat of arms of Spain consisting of a quartered shield with castles and lions in the quarters. Small center shield has 3 fleurs-de-lis. At the bottom of the shield is a pomegranate. Assayer's lettes --MF-- are to the left of the shield. 1740 date is 'common' for this issue (I don't know mintage). Value several years ago was $10 VG $15 Fine. 17mm and 1.69 g.

The best find was a very rare Viking Stirrup Terminal. (I would have paid £50 for that alone)

Big C:
Carlos III, One real, reverse side shows above water and land are two crowned globes. The left crown is imperial while the right crown royal. PLU VLT would be inscribed on the ribbons which are wrapped around the columns. VTRA QUE VNUM ("VTRA QUE VNUM" is Latin for "both are one", meaning that both worlds, the Americas and Asia/Europe shown on the two crowned globes, are in reality one world."
