Was able to get out this morning for a little while and found this. I know nothing about guns and was wondering if it was real or a toy. It seemed to heavy to be a toy but also maybe to small to be a real gun. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Toy. A roll of caps would fit over the peg above the trigger, and automatically feed a new "round" when fired.

toy for sure. by the looks of the rust, it is evidently a steel frame which in my opinion would date it to the very early 50's and the rapid rise in popularity of western themed movies. (seems that most cap guns later in that decade and beyond were made of pot metal)

Yup, the seam down the middle is a dead giveaway.

Anyone know which cap gun this is? Its neat and It would be fun to own one that is not rusted to bits.

the raised and slanted area above the back of the trigger guard, along with the square feature at the base of the frame above the back of the trigger guard leads me to believe it is this vintage Gene Autry cap pistol. You might clean up that area with a wire brush to see if my theory is correct

I like finding toy cap guns, if you clean it up, you may find a name on it.
