Nice medal. Looks perfectly real to me. As to it not being engraved, that's fairly common but unfortunate. A lot of those were awarded in active combat areas especially in WW1 and WW2. The guys would mail them home, and just never get it done. It's really too bad because that's one step below the CMH and I'll bet there's a really good story behind it.

It's looks like a modern version with that pin set up. Any numbers on the pin attachment? Any way you can check it with a black light to see if it glows?
