During my working from home, i get to pull out some old parts of my collection. In i have going back to stuff i have not ID'd yet. I came across this, and i just do not know enough about it to figure out. I have some old Chinese Holed coin. I know there are alot of fakes out there and you just believe everything you pick up. I have some that i have ID'd, but i have this one that is so different than the rest. I is larger than normal and has a larger square hole. and where most have 4 characters on front and mostly one or two on reverse. This has four on both sides. it is thinner that the others and looks to be bronze/iron. Thank you for any info on this coin. Happy Hunting. Coin 1.webp
coin 2.webp
coin 3.webp
last picture is one of the others compared to one i am trying to ID. for size difference.

Cash coins were either 1, 2, 5 or 10 in denomination. The '10' was about the size of a silver dollar, the '5' about the size of a half dollar.
If your coin was smaller than these, but larger than others you have found, it should then be a coin of '2' cash.

VERY old coin...!
Compare to illustrations in this website, you should get the Dynasty (date range) that it was made in....

Trick will be orienting the coin right-side up, to do that...!
Great Find! :icon_thumright:

I have been looking at Chinese Characters all day long, but i think i have an idea, but still working on it.
But it looks like Chang Ping Tong Bao, or could be Chong Ping Tong Bao, but it looking like 1790-1830.
"Chang Ping Tong Bao (常平通寶), 2 cash coin cast from 1790-1830."
