the middle picture is upside down and at the lower center of that picture (I thought was stamped with something but using a magnifying glass it appears tobe something broke of like pin) the darkness on the back of this is from some stuff that dumped over in my top drawer of my too chest. Im just curious about it and I didn't think the Germans would have a date on it.

It is real and it is most likely silver or partly silver. Not worth a huge amount due to the mass numbers awarded but still very collectible with a good market for them.

I dont know a lot about them, but the dates came along for the second world war. Think yours is a fist class award. If I remember right, second class had a ribbon hanger thing. Yours would have had a pin attachment. Someone way more knowledgeable than me will come along and correct me any time know.

That is definitly an Iron Cross First Class. The core is iron and should atick to a magnet. The outer silver is .800 silver. Depending on who made it, "800" could be stamped on the rim. They are worth good money in good condition and with the right buyer. I have seen them go for 300 or more. But they also had the pin on the back.

WOW! Yep the second picture shows where something got broke off(the picture is upside down) . now I got to go dig in my sock drawer and use a magnet on it. then I ll flip it back into the sock drawer! Thanks for the info! Ill need to get my loop out to see if I can find the "800" on it or not. Thanks again!

The link below shows the Iron Cross and what the back looks like. Yours is missing both attachments and if you cannot find them, you might be able to obtain them off of eBay or from a site that sells these types of medals, then have a Silversmith re-attach or attach them.

P.S. If you can find the attachment parts and depending upon the Manufacturer's Code Stamp on the attachment bar/pin, your' medal could be worth more or less than the average. Some of these medals made by specific Manufacturers, are somewhat scarce, to rare to very rare.
