I did it guys! Slow and meticulous yesterday! I got to a point where I only needed 2 more buttons. I had found 14 up to that point. I finally got button number 299 then the property owner came over and I got to talk to her. I haven't spoken to her since we have found everything. Told her that we have found over 500 buttons and some early 1700's coins. She was elated and very happy we were finding stuff. I asked if I could try in her yard just on the other side of the fence from the field and she didn't mind at all. So blessed when you have someone so nice, it helps she loves history!

So I tried in her yard for about 10 minutes and landed my 300th button! I also found what looks like a silver brooch or some type of jewelry. It looked as if something was inserted in the center, but it was long gone.

So excited to have reached my goal. I remember when I had reached 130 buttons a while back and thought MAYBE we would find 50 or so more buttons on the property. Boy was I off on that. Had no idea that we would end up finding over 530 buttons between us both, before this year was over. Thanks for looking, merry Christmas and HH!

Congrats on making that incredible goal. Merry Christmas and thank you for sharing this thread with us. I am very impressed with your finds.

Matt, I'm sure that you've probably already said, if so forgive me, but about how big is the property you've found all that on? That is just phenomenal! Great finds.. Unreal numbers!
And to think.. there's bound to still be MORE!

30 acre property. There is more I'm sure. Gridding makes me dizzy lol. I tend to go random.

Wow! Congrats on finding such a great assortment of finds on only one property! Great job on going slow and low and picking out all the good deep targets! Merry Christmas and happy new year!

Knew it was a matter on time, WTG matt! :occasion14:

I bet there is at least half that number or more still there on that site. You still have much more to find there.
Congrats and Merry Christmas!

Congrats on reaching the 300 mark and getting the piece of silver.

It's a crazy amount of buttons from the site and a thought that came to mind was the burning of rags for making ash.

This was my thought as well. Do you know the history of the property and why there would be that many buttons in one location ? Have you been able to date them to a specific time period ? Any pics of the front ?

Absolutely amazing to have so many buttons come from 1 site, heck of a job!

Buttons date from early 1700's to early 1800's.
