This came from a late 1800's, early 1900 lumber camp. I had this on several years ago and no one could figure out what it is. It is 4 1/2" tall. There is a thumb screw on top attached to an open cap. This would have swiveled down to a cup. There is no bottom on the cap, so when swiveled down it could not have been used to form a ball as there are openings on the sides of the cap. Evidently it was fastened to a board and the cup would be facing down and would not hold anything anyways.

Looks like the drain-cock from the bottom of an antique ice box. If not it is very similar.

I forgot to add that after I cleaned it with electrolysis, I was drying it with a propane torch and tiny beads of solder rolled off it.

I found a picture of some antique ice box hardware, the picture is not the exact one that I remember but you get the idea...
