Re: Is this a cilvil war bullet

On yesterdays post about the item I found, the reply said it looked like a semi wadcutter but I dont know what that is. So I posted another pic with a scale and the one in question is in the middle. All three have the white patina look but i scanned them which makes it look alittle different I guess. Thank you for your ideas or thoughts.

Re: Is this a cilvil war bullet

As the member in your other post said a modern semi wadcutter. It is a modern cast target bullet.

Re: Is this a cilvil war bullet

A wadcutter is a bullet with no noticeable point. Just a flying cylinder of lead. They are used in short-range target shooting where the objective is to cut a nice round hole in a paper target. A semi-wadcutter still has the flat point, but with a slight taper behind it. Often used in autoloading pistols, which have trouble feeding wadcutters.

The big bullet on the far right could be a CW bullet, can't tell about the first one, too damaged, but the middle one is modern. Monty

The first to the left could be a CW Williams Cleaner bullet :o
The first to the right should be a CW - US "three ringer" bullet. ;)
