OK I've been looking to buy some good headphones so what makes these better than any other? Not being a smart Arse, I've just always used cheap headphones and been happy. I have always wondered if I'm loosing out with my cheap phones, but I hate to spend a lot of money just to find this out.

Is there a link to some info comparing the better metal detecting headphones? I'll buy a pair if I'm convinced I will benefit from them.

digger, I always thought headphones were headphones and that spending 100.00 or more for a set was foolish.
well, let me tell you they aren't the same. Max kept telling me I needed to try a set of good headphones, so I got a set of sun ray gold pro headphones from him. The sounds are much crisper and cleaner and with my old headphones i would run them at max volume to hear faint targets. with the sun rays my volume controls are set between half and 3/4 volume and faint targets aren't a problem. I couldn't go back to using cheap headphones again. Max has a good price on these headphones and I'm sure you will see a big difference from your old cheap headphones. They really do make a difference..........good luck and happy hunting......Roger

What detector brands were these phones originally designed for? I bought a set and would NEVER give them up. They are the absolute BEST on the market, but it would help to know which brand of detectors the builder made them for. If you go to the RATPhone site, you can see how the builder designed them to match the impedance of each specific brand. That's why he wants to know what machine you are buying them for. They'll work for other brands, but the impedance matching means they'll be fined tuned to a specific brand.

Also, do the pair you have have the volume controls or the overdrive switch?

Your price gives a very good buy. As I've already said, RATPhones are the BEST and you have priced these very reasonably.
