I was a plebe at USMA, West Point in 1998 (bicentennial class at West Point). At the conclusion of Beast Barracks, I was the MC of the Class of 2002's talent show. This occurred in the presence of General John P. Abizaid, General Daniel W. Christman, and Chief of Staff of the United States Army, General Dennis J. Reimer. At the conclusion of MC'ing this event, I ignored previous instruction from a Lieutenant (leave the stage immediately after inviting General Reimer to the stage to speak to everyone in attendance, and leave the stage empty as he walked up with no greeting), and instead I stood fast and waited to formally extend courtesy to him after his arrival to the stage. When he arrived on stage, he presented me with a smile, a wink, a hand-shake, a thank-you... and a coin.
As you can see in the photos, it is a bronze coin with USMA markings, which is odd that the Chief of Staff of the Army had this coin on him, and more odd, a blank for a signature/branding of anyone on the back. I have only ever personally seen ONE other coin similar this, and it was not colored on the front whatsoever. I have scoured the internet, and I have not found another coin that matches the exact coin that I have.
General Abizaid and General Reimer have had extreme significance in modern military events and history, and General Christman also not only held a distinguished military career, but continues notable success in corporate endeavors, as have the other Generals. I would like your opinion on the rarity of this coin, and proposed value.
Thanks in advance....
